“Behind-the-Scenes”

(2023)

Using the element of fire, I portrayed an environment I felt I was often in: utilizing a steel wire for the ball to pass through.

“What is the ETA (Estimated Time of Answers)?”

(2023)

I traveled far and wide and through extreme depths to search for answers to an environment that crumbled my identity. The color palette represents being in constant fire.

I had people interact with my piece to represent the unworthiness of identity i felt.

“A worker ant must not stop”

(2023)

Hopelessly searching for answers made me feel like an ant— blindly persisting without anything found. The sand symbolizes ashes from fire.

Plastic portion containers

Made into ants with heat and hot glue

The ants are a symbol of my efforts and hard work

“Hope: a driving force”

(2024)

Small moments of hope began to drive me to not give up easily. The melody in the background is a melody I composed and hummed that I thought best resembled hope. The steering wheel is my “driving force” (hope) which I created from a fan where I took apart its wings and replaced with aluminum foil.

“Anchored, however”

(2024)

Plastic water bottles used to create an emptiness that surrounded me. Net that is entangled and stuck to past. However, the look of gazing up represents my attempt to past from defining me.

“Although I (Break-through) I must discover”

(2024)

The water of life that contrasts fire— sets me free. The water enters through a portable shower.

“A plant’s growth is not linear”

(2024)

Ultimately, eyes that were misguided opened through understanding (shown by my mother’s hands opening my hands). Through shifting my mindset, I began to grow from the authenticity of the soil that was within me.

“From and to”

(2024)

Using Ziploc bags to create a vacuum space, I used mirrors to symbolize a growth that is to come. I used a hair dryer to increase air into the flower.
